spring snowflake in the Wolfstal near Ulm
Spring has taken its time this year and the Spring Snowflake [↗] (in German “Märzenbecher” = March Cup) has also just about managed to live up to its name this year. Larger populations have become rare and the flower is therefore on the list of endangered species.
If you want to see whole “fields” of the flower, Wolfstal near Ulm is a good place to go.
I have already written about this nature reserve several times in this blog, for example here or here.
Of course, the Wolfstal is no longer an insider tip and especially at the height of the Snowflake flowering season, many visitors come here. I was there at 8 a.m. on Saturday and apart from another photographer and a family, the parking lot was still empty. Two hours later, when I set off again, not only was the parking lot full, but the alternative parking lot (just 50 meters or so away) was also beginning to fill up rapidly.
There are many other motifs in addition to the Spring Snowflake. It was almost too late for the Scarlet Elf Cup [↗]. There were only a few ones left, but if you walk through the valley with your eyes open, you will find many more things. And no, I didn't recolor the tree fungus 😉.
